Links to pages about the various Royal Houses
Royal Houses is divided in four sections that are divided in various royal houses. I only mention the houses that have not become extinct in the 19th or 20th century. Houses with more branches are united under one name. If you have a new link for me, let me know.

  • Non-Reigning Royal Houses in Europe
These royal houses lost their sovereignty after 1815. Some of them lost their sovereignty around 1866 when they were occupied by Prussia, others lost their sovereignty in 1918 at the end of World War I. The last family that lost its sovereignty was the Royal Family of Greece, officially in 1973, although they fled the country already in 1967.

  • Mediatized Houses
Most of these houses lost their sovereignty between 1801 and 1806 under the French Emperor Napoléon I. The houses were mediatized and at the Congress in Vienna in 1815 they didn’t manage to get their full sovereignty back. They retained their equality of birth with the sovereign houses.
