Further facts: He grew up in Durham, Great Britain, and in 1999 moved to Henley, Great Britain. He travelled to Africa (Madagascar, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya), Thailand, USA, in Europe.

On 30 December 2007 Nicholas' grandfather King Michael I of Romania announced that Nicholas would receive the title Prince of Romania with the style of Royal Highness on his 25th birthday in 2010, or upon the King's death if that occurs earlier. According to the fundamental rules (not to the Romanian law of succession from 1923) of the Romanian royal family Nicholas is now third in line of succession behind his aunt Margarita and his mother. In an interview in 2008 Nicholas said that if the Romanian people would ask him to become their king, he wouldn't refuse. Since 2008 he works more and more in Romania.
