Joachim Prince of Belgium

His Imperial and Royal Highness Prince Joachim Carl Maria Nikolaus Isabelle Marcus d'Aviano of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este (Prins van België/Prince de Belgique, Erzherzog von Österreich-Este) was born at the University Clinic Saint-Luc at Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, Belgium, on 9 December 1991


Joachim is the third child of Prince Lorenz of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este (born 1955) and his wife (since 1984) Princess Astrid of Belgium (born 1962). His maternal grandfather is King Albert II of the Belgians (born 1934).


Joachim has one brother, Amedeo (born 1986), and three sisters, Maria-Laura (born 1988), Luisa-Maria (born 1995) and Laetitia Maria (born 2003).


Joachim attended the Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege in Brussels, Belgium. He later moved to the Malvern College in Worcestershire, Great Britain. On 16 November 2010 he started a voluntary army training course at the Centre for Basic Training in Arlon, Belgium. He finished his education at the Nautical School in Brugge, Belgium, on 29 July 2011. He became an officer in the Belgian Navy. As of September 2011 he studies for a Bachelor of International Economics, Management and Finance at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy.
