A Wedding Report – Long live the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!

It is already three weeks after the wedding of Prince Harry of Wales and Meghan Markle – now The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – but I am certain nobody minds another short report with some photos. My Finnish friend Kaija – who collects everything about royal weddings – and her daughter Satu travelled to Windsor to celebrate the bridal couple. Early in the morning they travelled from London to Windsor by train, and joined the crowds in the streets of Windsor. As many others they hardly did see anything else but a carriage with bride and groom quickly passing, but it was fun! Just read Satu’s report!

Long live the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!

It wasn’t just about the two of them. It was a celebration for the whole country – the World even. Just like they had hoped it to be.

It was one of those things that can only be done by the Brits. Sure, the weather was boiling hot and it was crowded but nothing was going to stop everyone from being dressed to the nines and having an amazing time.

The little town of Windsor was decorated to look like something out of a fairytale. Flags, posters and stalls of Pimms and Prosecco in every corner to ensure everyone was set out to have a jolly good time –  as was to be expected.

Everyone was invited to the wedding. While waiting to congratulate the Duke and Duchess in person, we were able to follow the ceremony on the screens. For every “I will”, there was infatuated cheering and every loving look they gave each other was followed by deep sighs of understanding towards how they felt.

And then… The moment we had been waiting for since early that morning. That three seconds we saw them drive by, the bride’s tiara glimmering in the sunlight and both of them clearly having the most precious day of their lives was nothing short of magical.

The party continued for all of us outside deep into the afternoon eating ice cream in the park and tasting wedding special cocktails with names such as Markle Sparkle and Cheeky Ginge. When it was time to go home, we were instructed by a member of the security team: “If you want to leave the area, keep on walking and never look back…!” Yes, it was a long day for everyone involved – but equally memorable and wonderful.
