Christmas Markets 2019

What is even more wonderful than a Christmas market … exactly, a Christmas market in or around a castle. Sometimes they’re huge, sometimes they’re rather small. If you’re planning to visit one of the markets, here are the dates for 2019. Some have already taken place, so I didn’t list them, others are still to come in the coming weeks leading up to Christmas. Below is a selection of markets I found online that look rather good. Any recommendations welcome, as usual.

Austria (Weihnachtsmarkt, Adventmarkt or Christkindlmarkt)

Denmark (Julemarked)

It seems most Christmas markets in Denmark are being held already in November.

Estonia

Germany (Weihnachtsmarkt, Adventmarkt or Christkindlmarkt)

Ireland

The Netherlands (Kerstmarkt or Kerstfair)

  • Christmas market at Cannenburch Castle in Vaassen from 13 to 15 December 2019.
  • Kerst & Wild Fair at Doorwerth Castle in Doorwerth on 8 December 2019.
  • Kerst op Duivenvoorde at Duivenvoorde Castle in Voorschoten from 13 to 15 December 2019.
  • Christmas market at the Fraeylemaborg in Slochteren on 14 and 15 December 2019. I am not planning to go, but have been there a few times in the past, as it is closest to my home. Inside the estate is beautifully decorated, there is sometimes music and literature. Anyway it is always wonderful and some years ago I was lucky enough that there was some snow.
  • Trots Kerst Special at Groeneveld Castle in Baarn from 13 to 15 December 2019.
  • Kerstfair Huis Doorn in Doorn from 12 to 15 December 2019.
  • Winterpaleis Het Loo at the stables of Palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn from 7 December 2019 to 5 January 2020.
  • Middachten in Kerstsferen at Middachten Castle in De Steeg from 11 to 15 December 2019.
  • Kerstsfeer op Kasteel Vorden in Vorden from 13 to 15 December 2019.

Sweden (Julmarknad)

Also here a lot of Christmas markets already seem to take place in November.

United Kingdom
