My royal mail 2020

Arrived on 9 January 2020: a card with photo from King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians to thank for the card I sent them for the 20th wedding anniversary.

On 15 April 2020 King Philippe of the Belgians celebrated his 60th birthday. On 16 April 2020 Queen Margrethe II of Denmark turned 80. Special occasions that deserved sending a card. In May 2020 I received two lovely replies back.

After having seen it already several times online, on 1 August 2020 I finally received the card from Luxembourg on the occasion of the birth of Prince Charles on 10 May. The card is much bigger than I expected. Apart from a cute photo of Charles by Sophie Margue, taken shortly after his arrival at home, there is also a C out of flowers and in the middle a cute little (Nassau) lion with a bow in the Luxembourg colours. The flowers look like the flower for the birth month of may lily of the valley.

The card of the Princess Royal to thank me for my 70th birthday wishes arrived on 4 September. A lovely photo!

There is some hope for the British mail. It took the card from Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi just two days (!) to travel from Buckingham Palace to the Netherlands, arriving on 23 October 2020. A thick envelope, a beautiful, rather big, card with not only a wedding photo, but on the inside also quite a bit of text topped with the monogram of Princess Beatrice (although it might be of the couple, if the E is turned the other way around) and a crown.

The next card already arrived from the United Kingdom on 30 October 2020. Archie Akhavan-Kharazian and Princess Sofia zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn thanked wellwishers with this card with a beautiful wedding photo. Personally written. Luckily the card itself arrived in good condition, as the envelope was soaking wet and the address less readable than could have been.
