10.30-10.50am – Appearance of the new King and Queen with their daughters, and Princess Beatrix, on the balcony of the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
1.30pm – Start of the joint session of the States General.
2-3.30pm – Swearing-in and investiture of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands in the Nieuwe Kerk (new church) in Amsterdam.
3.30-6pm – Reception at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
7.30-9.30pm – Water pageant at the IJ in Amsterdam.
As of 9.30pm – dinner and party at the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ in Amsterdam, hosted by the Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
