A third princely wedding in Wertheim

The last of the three children of Fürst Ludwig zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg and his wife Elisabeth née Countess von Waldburg zu Wolfegg und Waldsee to marry was Hereditary Prince Ludwig, who on 9 September 2023 married Helene von Pezold. Like his sisters Sophie and Amélie, Ludwig chose to get married at the Stiftskirche in Wertheim, Germany. After the wedding, a reception was being held in the castle of Kreuzwertheim.

The civil marriage took place at the town hall of Kreuzwertheim on 8 September 2023, followed in the evening by the traditional “Polterabend” at the Wertheimer Burg.

The flower children were Caspar and Ottilie (von) Dewitz, the countesses Camilla and Eleonore Fugger von Babenhausen, Count Xaver zu Solms-Laubach. As witnesses the bridal couple had chosen: Nathalie Baumgärtner, Count Casimir zu Castell-Rüdenhausen, Freifrau Sophia von Elverfeldt-UIm, Countess Clara zu Solms-Laubach, Prince Georg zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg, Duke Philipp of Oldenburg, Count Carl-Theodor zu Ortenburg, Count Franz Schenk of Stauffenberg, Count Moritz von der Schulenberg.

Ludwig Hubertus Alfred-Ernst Sebastian Carl Roman Hereditary Prince zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg was born on 30 June 1994 in Wertheim.

Helene von Pezold was born in Coburg, Germany, on 27 June 1995, as third of the four daughters of Kilian von Pezold and Countess Christine zu Solms-Laubach.

Bride and groom are third cousins once removed. Their common ancestors are Prince Alfred zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg (1855-1925) and Pauline von Reichenbach-Lessonitz (1858-1927). They got engaged on 17 April 2022, after having been in a relationship for several years.
