Alexander & Natacha – A Countess becomes an Archduchess

Thanks to J. from Royalduo for the photos

Just a few weeks after the death of his grandmother, Archduchess Yolande of Austria († 13 September 2023), Archduke Alexander of Austria married his fiancée Natacha Roumiantzoff. The wedding was initially to take place in Montreux, Switzerland. The location however was changed to the église Saint-Pierre in Beloeil, Belgium, with a party at Beloeil Castle, seat of the Princes de Ligne (the family of Archduchess Yolande). The date, 30 September 2023, remained the same. As the wedding only took place at 4pm, the guests that were invited for the evening, already wore evening dress.

The bridesmaids were Eugenia Trueba, Sophie Meeuwissen, Princess Eléonora de Mérode and countess Drusilla Viora Bastide. The bridal children were Archduchess Katarina of Austria, Archduchess Magdalena of Austria, Archduchess Sofia of Austria, Princess Victoria de Bourbon-Parme (who was also the ring bearer) and Count Gabriel de Limburg-Stirum.

The witnesses of bride and groom were Countess Ivana Roumiantzeff-Pachkevitch, Prince Wenceslas de Nassau, Prince Sébastien of Luxembourg, Mr Constantin de Boisbaudry and Mr Philip Di Pauli-McClintoc.

Alexander was born in 1990 as the fourth child of Archduke Carl Christian of Austria – a grandson of Karl, the last Emperor of Austria – and Princess Marie Astrid of Luxembourg. He has recently started working as public relations officer at the consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Geneva, Switzerland.

Countess Natacha Julia Maria Roumiantzoff-Pachkevitch (also spelled Roumiantzeff-Pachkevitch; it seems the name is written with an e, but pronounced as an o) was born in 1987 as daughter of Nicolas-Pierre Roumiantzoff, a lawyer from France, and Maria Myranda Meeuwissen, originally from the Netherlands. Her siblings are Igor and Ivana. The title is somewhat disputable. The Russian counts Rumiantsev according to my sources became extinct in 1838. The grandfather of Natacha, Nicolas Roumiantzoff (1906-1988), escaped Russia in 1917 with his family. In France Nicolas became a general, a Compagnon de la Libération. Already in his generation, the countal title was used. Natacha attended secondary school at the International School in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The couple is said to have met 2019 at Le Bal du Leman in Switzerland.
