Duchess Amélie married in her mother’s dress

Yet another royal wedding at Altshausen, Germany. Duchess Marie-Amélie von Württemberg married her fiancé Franz-Ferdinand Freiherr von Feilitzsch on 2 September 2023 at 11am at the Parish Church of St. Michael at Altshausen Castle. The couple already celebrated its civil wedding at Friedrichshafen Castle on 20 May 2023.

The bride, usually called Amélie, was led to the altar by her brother Duke Wilhelm von Württemberg, who is the head of the family. Her father died in a car accident in May 2018, her grandfather Duke Carl passed away in 2022.

30 years ago, on 13 November 1993, Amélies mother Princess Marie zu Wied married Hereditary Duke Friedrich von Württemberg in Altshausen. The nearly 20-year-old bride wore a high-necked, lace trimmed dress. Amélie had the dress slightly altered, but wore the same dress. She also wore the diamond tiara of the Württemberg family.

Even the flower girls and page boys wore the same clothing as the ones in 1993. Amélie and Franz-Ferdinand had chosen: Olympia d’Andigné, Annabelle Turi, Charlotte Creutz, Emil Turi, Florentin Schlüter, Konstantin Schlüter and Antonius Schlüter.

The witnesses for the bridal couple were Duchess Dorothée von Württemberg, Countess Marie-Gabrielle von Waldburg zu Zeil und Trauchburg, Laura Hampe, Count Henrik Beissel von Gymnich, Jakob Offenbächer, Alexander Recker.

After the wedding, a reception was being held in the gardens of Altshausen castle. A lot of music was being played by a band of bagpipes and drums.

The bride was born on 11 March 1996 at Ravensburg as the second of three children. She studied at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and the Royal Academy of Music in London and is a concert violinist.

The groom was born on 21 November 1997 at Tegernsee as the only son of Louis-Ferdinand Freiherr von Feilitzsch and Hanna Strabolakos, a novelist. His two elder sisters are Elena, married to Alexander Turi, and Sophia, married to Alexander Thiele. Franz-Ferdinand works as managing director in the family business. The family owns a chain of nursing homes, social therapeutic facilities, forests and real estate.

The couple will live at Hänselstein Castle in Feilitzsch.
