The new pictures of the Belgian heir to the throne Princess Elisabeth, The Duchess of Brabant, really invite for a visit to Oxford, United Kingdom. The Princess this month will start her studies in the British university city. It is one of those places that I have never visited, but know from tv-series like Inspector Morse, Endeavour Morse and Lewis. I love watching crime series and several places that I saw in these series are shown on the pictures of Elisabeth.

The Princess, who will celebrate her 20th birthday on 25 October, has passed the admission tests for the three-year ‘History & Politics’ programme this summer, as was announced on 31 August. As off October 2021 she will study at Lincoln College, a college which is part of Oxford University. Once again she has chosen to study in the United Kingdom after she obtained her International Baccalaureate at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales in 2020.

The photos were taken on Monday 27 September and Tuesday 28 September. We see Elisabeth walk in Turl Street and in the Front Quad of her college. She visits the Grove and the library. Further photos show her drinking a coffee in a bar and walk around on Radcliffe Square. With two friends she also went punting on a typical low wooden boat on the river Cherwell. Several short videos of Elisabeths tour through Oxford can be found on the website of the TV-channel VRT. A virtual tour of Lincoln College is available online.

I think it is lovely to have a look at the start of Elisabeth’s life in Oxford and see her enjoying already getting to know the city, that will be her main residence for the coming years. I wish her a wonderful time as a student and a successful study and lots of friends.
